Anglesey Freeport, a partnership between the Isle of Anglesey Council (IACC) and Stena Line, has announced that the North Anglesey Tax Site has become the latest tax site to receive formal tax site designation on the Island. The North Anglesey Tax Site includes Rhosgoch, the former Shell Oil depot, and the Octel site, a former bromine chemical factory. The Development Bank of Wales has released new figures showcasing its support of the technology sector in Wales, combining patient capital with strategic co-investment to fuel innovation across the region. It has now channelled nearly £90 million of capital and unlocked a further £195 million from co-investors into 292 tech ventures in Wales. The rural economy of North Wales is set to benefit from significant Growth Deal funding, as Ambition North Wales has approved the Business Justification Case for a £3.5m investment towards the development of Dairy Sheep Wales. South Wales Police carried out a large joint taxi operation last weekend, working alongside the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, Cardiff Council and Newport City Council taxi licensing teams. The purpose of the operation was to check that vehicles were insured, licensed and safe to be on the road. Around 130 taxis and 20 minibuses were stopped during the checks. Out of the 150 vehicles inspected, several were found with issues that resulted in enforcement action. Eleven minibuses received prohibition notices from the DVSA. Swansea Council says highways teams are now working to find out what caused a sinkhole to appear on Brynymor Road at the junction with Westbury Street. Specialists have started investigations on site. The council says the road will be reinstated once they understand the reason for the ground failure and are confident repairs can be carried out safely. While this work continues, Brynymor Road is closed to traffic between Westbury Street and Eaton Crescent. Westbury Street is still open, although drivers cannot access Brynymor Road from it.
