Tenby Harbour and North Beach users are being asked to be aware of heavy moving machinery as dredging work is carried out. Sand will be removed from the mouth of the Harbour and deposited at the north end of the beach. The work will not affect vessel movements at the Harbour. Tenby Harbourmaster Chris Salisbury said a licence for the dredging is in place. “We ask that the public please keep clear of the operating area and that dogs are kept on a lead during this time,” Chris added. An exciting new community sports hub under construction in Pontllanfraith is on track to open this summer, as a decision is made to permanently close the adjacent Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre. Caerphilly county borough council’s Cabinet met this week to formally agree the closure of the aging leisure centre, which has been closed to the public for the past 5 years. Monmouthshire County Council will begin replacing the steps and footpath in Castle Dell, Chepstow, which connects Welsh Street to the Bank Street car park, on Monday, 17th March 2025. The project will result in improved connectivity between Welsh Street car park and Chepstow Castle, a safer walking route with enhanced accessibility for wheelchairs, pushchairs, and mobility scooters. Victoria Heath has been appointed as Wales’ first Chief Healthcare Science Officer. Victoria will advise the Welsh Government on the most effective ways to use healthcare science to deliver improved healthcare, including modernising and introducing new diagnostic technologies and treatments. She will support and represent more than 50 different roles within the healthcare science professions in Wales. Victoria comes from the NHS’ ME-5 Pathology Network, where she was responsible for the development and implementation of workforce initiatives.
