A 35-year-old Wrexham man has been jailed for persistent shoplifting and banned from entering any shop in the city. Patrick McGrath, Bryn Hafod, Southsea, appeared before Mold Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 31st where he was jailed for 12 weeks for theft. Despite being banned from the store, he went into Farmfoods in Wrexham on Monday, October 28th and put £29 worth of items into a rucksack before walking out without attempting to pay. A significant amount of engineering work was delivered over a nine-day rail closure as Transport for Wales (TfW) continue to move forward in delivering the next phases of the South Wales Metro. The recent closure of the Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare and Treherbert lines between Pontypridd and Radyr (from September 27 to October 6) allowed TfW to progress with station, infrastructure and maintenance work. As part of last week’s Budget, the Chancellor Rachel Reeves has approved The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s £19.9m bid funding to regenerate the Mole on Barry Waterfront. The project will transform the areas Barry Waterfront with a new watersports centre, a marina, and new park. RCT Council has supported the owners of the Pencelli Hotel in Treorchy to secure important grant funding – which will help convert the building within the heart of the community, and reopen it as a new restaurant, bar and hotel. The Zone Youth Centre, Caldicot, welcomed the local community for an open day on Friday, 25 October, celebrating the completion of extensive renovations to enhance the facility for young people aged 11 and up in Caldicot.
