Welsh Ministers have approved a milestone application to create an 85MW wind farm and energy storage facility in Garn Fach, south of Newton in Powys. Savills Cardiff supported the application for the scheme on behalf of EDF Renewables UK, which referred to the decision as ‘a major step forward in our commitment to renewable energy and combatting climate change in Wales’. A man has been jailed after racially abusing a woman in Caernarfon. Michael Owen Williams, of Dolfor, Pwllheli, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday October 22nd after admitting to racially aggravated harassment and breaching a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO). On August 9th, a woman was at Caernarfon bus station with her children when 36-year-old Williams approached her and began racially abusing her unprovoked. Denbighshire County Council have completed works on the Four Great Highways project in Llangollen. A special ground-breaking ceremony has marked the start of construction of the new home for Willows High School. The development of more than a dozen new council homes is underway in a Swansea community. Ground works have commenced at the site of a former Swansea Council-owned educational facility known as Brondeg House in the Manselton community. A war memorial in Risca has been given a makeover in time for Remembrance Sunday. The Risca branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) joined forces with construction expert Willmott Dixon and Caerphilly County Borough Council to transform the St Mary’s Street memorial and surrounding garden area. Volunteers worked together to clear weeds and overgrowth from the garden, plant shrubs, repaint benches and clean the area in preparation for visitors to the Remembrance Sunday event on 10th November. Health Secretary Jeremy Miles is today (Thursday 24th October) announcing £28m to help the NHS cut the longest waiting times. The funding will pay for more evening and weekend appointments and regional working to target waiting times in specialties such as orthopaedics, ophthalmology, general surgery and gynaecology. Health boards will also free-up outpatient appointments for new patients to be seen by reducing the number of automatic follow-ups in cases where they are not needed.
