South Wales Police is appealing for information following a serious assault which took place in Llandaff Fields, Cardiff, yesterday morning (Monday, November 10). Officers were called to the park at around 5.30am after reports of an incident. A 55-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds, which are described as non-life-threatening. South Wales Police continue to investigate a burglary at St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff. Gavin Burnett, 43, and Darren Burnett, 50, both from Northampton, have been charged with burglary and are remanded in custody. Items of Bronze Age gold jewellery were stolen from a display case in the museum’s main building at around 12.30am on Monday, October 6. On Friday, November 7, Rowan Barnett-Davies, a 23-year-old resident of Brecon Road, Hirwaun, was sentenced to eight years in prison at Newport Crown Court. He had previously pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges involving child sexual offences, including 21 counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, three counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child, 11 counts of distributing indecent images, and seven counts of possessing indecent, prohibited, and extreme images. Rooftop solar panels, battery storage and smart energy systems are being installed across eight leisure centres in Cardiff to reduce carbon emissions and cut energy costs. The £1.65 million Cardiff Council project is expected to reduce electricity-related carbon emissions at the sites by around 35%, saving an estimated 146 tonnes of CO₂e annually. Disease control zones that have been declared following a confirmed case of bird flu in the Welshpool area, Powys County Council has said. A case of Highly Pathogenic Avian influenza H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Welshpool the county council has said. 3km and 10km disease control zones have been declared around the premises by APHA, to limit the risk of disease spread. Within this zone, bird movements and gatherings are restricted and all holdings that keep birds must be declared.
