Pupils from Tredegarville C.I.W. Primary School will be helping to light the streets of Cardiff this Christmas after taking part in the second annual Cardiff Kids Xmas Lights project. The switch-on event will take place on the 13 of November from 5-6pm in the Canal Quarter, coinciding with the RSAW awards, and a performance from a local primary school choir. The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Wales has welcomed the stability in Welsh Government’s Draft Budget for 2026/27. It includes an uplift in overall funding and leaves £380 million unallocated for cross-party negotiations. However, FSB Wales warns that the budget overlooks the severe cost pressures on Wales’s 200,000+ small businesses. A major concern is the lack of detail on non-domestic rates (NDR). Steven Craig Vonk, aged 51 from Swansea, attacked Timothy Matthews outside the Mill public house in Brynmill on July 25 this year. Vonk has been sentenced to three years in prison after appearing at Swansea Crown Court having pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Matthews in a one-punch incident. A 34-year-old woman who attacked a man with a broken glass bottle has been jailed. Cassie Evans, of Watery Road, Wrexham struck the victim to the neck with the piece of glass following an unprovoked attack. The incident on Lord Street, Wrexham happened shortly after 7pm, on 18 August. The victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
