A vet has warned people buying flowers for Mother’s Day this Sunday to ensure they purchase pet-friendly florals to avoid poisoning much-loved pets. The Football Association of Wales has released its first grassroots football strategy – Enhancing Lives Through Football. The new six-year strategy will grow and develop the game, focusing on the people who deliver community football on and off the pitch, increasing participation at all levels, improving behaviours, and enhancing accessibility to the game. A multi-award-winning singer will dedicate her performance at a Celtic festival to the late Welsh music icon Leah Owen. Branwen Jones, from Ruthin, paid tribute to her “incredible” musical mentor ahead of the Pan Celtic Festival (Gŵyl Ban Geltaidd), which will take place in Carlow, Ireland between April 2 and 7. Thousands of households will soon be able to recycle even more of their waste, with the opening of the long-awaited brand-new community recycling centre in Pyle. Located on Village Farm Industrial Estate, the new £2.3M centre will open its doors to the public on Thursday 14 March and will replace the current recycling site at Tythegston. The recycling centre’s split-level design will make it easier for drivers to access, with a one-way system, ramps and bypass lanes in place to allow for better movement on site.
