Leading Accountancy firm Bevan Buckland LLP’s vision of becoming one of the pre-eminent practices in Wales has been boosted by two new senior appointments at their Swansea HQ. These newly created roles will deliver two key initiatives of the company’s long-term 2nd Century strategic plan; to ensure continued growth and stability through the next 3 to 5 years in the face of Brexit, changing accountancy market, and to become the industry leader in the region for employee learning and development.

Gus Williams, former Risk Director at JP Morgan Investment Bank has been appointed Risk, Compliance & Governance Manager. Originally a qualified accountant, Gus has 20+ years’ experience across the globe and brings a highly specialist set of skills to the business:

“After 20 years working in Financial Services in London, Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong. I decided it was time to return to the land of my fathers and jumped at the opportunity to join a growing Welsh business with a fantastic reputation.”

“I started out building my career by setting up new business units and branches globally in investment banking, and more recently implementing risk and oversight change projects to ensure firms meet the ever expanding and changing regulatory requirements. I’m thrilled to have joined the team at Bevan Buckland LLP as they move through an exciting period in their journey”

Vanessa Thomas-Parry joins the team as Learning & Development Manager following 13 years in the charity sector. With professional development at the top of the priority list of jobseekers in 2019, Vanessa’s appointment will help to establish an ‘always learning’ culture within Bevan Buckland LLP:

“After a really engaging interview process with Bevan Buckland LLP I was thrilled to be offered the role and excited to join the team. I felt that I had found an environment where I could grow and develop myself and others, it was really inspiring to hear and see how committed the partners are to investing in the learning and career development of their existing staff, and the new staff they want to attract”

Managing Partner Alison Vickers was involved in the selection process and is looking forward to seeing the impact Vanessa and Gus will have:

“As a key part of our new strategic pathway, we are delighted that Vanessa and Gus have joined our ranks. One of our most exciting key initiatives will be the creation and development of our new Bevan Buckland LLP Training Academy, which is a major initiative not only for the organisation, but also for the sector regionally. Working in and around our sector presents continual challenges, none more so than employee development. We absolutely recognise that our people are our future and we are placing considerable time and investment to make sure we provide an environment where they can flourish. This is a step change that is needed and we are delighted to be at the forefront of this across the region. With Vanessa and Gus now in place we can focus on our next phase of growth, with several particularly exciting new vacancies across our Tax, Audit, Accounts and Administration teams.”
