Located in the idyllic Gethin Park in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, BikePark Wales, the UK’s largest purpose-built bike park, is expanding to meet the growing popularity of the thrill-seeking sport.

A team of seven dedicated trail builders have designed new routes for all weather conditions, with 40 trails now available including four new advanced trails, alongside a new option that is opening the sport up to a whole new audience – a stunning new five-kilometre-long beginners’ downhill trail.

Ideal for bike riders looking for a first taste of off-road excitement, the new trail, nicknamed ‘Kermit’, delivers all the thrills and fun of downhill mountain biking with bermed corners, rock slabs, roller coaster elements and tree-lined flow sections.

The Park has also expanded and improved its wider experience with a faster check-in, a more efficient uplift service and an improved après ride experience to meet the growing popularity of the sport.

Interest in mountain biking has seen a significant rise since the start of the pandemic, as people found themselves keen to embrace the outdoors denied to them for so long. BikePark Wales has seen a 100 per cent increase in visitors versus pre-pandemic levels.

“It’s great to see so many people – including a whole new generation – taking an interest in mountain biking. We’ve worked hard to improve every aspect of the park to ensure there’s something for everyone and we’re particularly proud of the efforts to attract new people to the sport we’re passionate about,” said BikePark Wales’ Martin Astley.

Riders can hire all their equipment including their bike, access top-quality coaching and guiding,  enjoy the vehicular uplift service to transport riders to the top of the trails and the après-scene at the on-site café.
