A service offering new parents in Cardiff the opportunity to register the birth of their child in community Hubs is expanding, with extra days introduced at Llandaff North Hub and Cardiff Central Library.

Operating by appointment only, the service will expand to operate on:

    Monday          9am – 4pm     Llandaff North Hub

    Tuesday         9am – 4pm     Central Library

    Wednesday    9am – 4pm     Ely Hub
    9am – 4pm     Llandaff North Hub (from Wednesday 4thSeptember)

9am – 4pm    Central Library (first Wednesday of every month from 7thAugust)

    Thursday        9am – 4pm     St Mellons Hub

Cabinet Member with responsibility for Registration Services, Cllr Norma Mackie, said: “Offering birth registrations in our hubs has been really popular with new parents, allowing them to book a convenient appointment and cutting down on the need to travel across Cardiff. Expanding this service means that even more new parents will be able to register their newborn, closer to home.”

A full registration service, including the registration of births, marriages and deaths and the issuing of copy certificates continues to be available at the main Register Office, which is temporarily based at Glamorgan Archives while City Hall is closed for essential maintenance.

Glamorgan Archives is also currently hosting all legal register office weddings and civil partnerships, where only the couple plus two witnesses are in attendance.

Larger marriage and civil partnerships, formerly held in the St David’s Suite at City Hall, are now held in the newly licenced Llandaff Suite on the first floor of the historic Insole Court. The suite offers two rooms – the Cedar Room, which holds 20 guests, and the Walnut Room which has a capacity of 40.

The Register Office at Glamorgan Archives, Clos Parc Morgannwg, Leckwith, Cardiff, CF11 8AW is open from Monday – Thursday from 8.30am – 4.00pm, and from 9am – 4pm on Fridays.

Deaths can also be registered at the Thornhill Cemetery Bereavement Office from Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm.

Appointments for registration services can be booked on the Cardiff Register Office website, where more information on registering birth, marriages and deaths is also available.
