    Caerphilly announce spring 2023 events

Caerphilly County Borough Council announce spring 2023 events, following last year’s success which saw thousands of visitors flocking to town in centres throughout the county borough.

This year will see the return of the popular Ystrad Mynach Spring Fair on 25th March along with the first ever Blackwood Spring Fair on 4th March, Caerphilly Food & Drink Festival on 29th April and a new Bargoed May Fair on 13th May.

The four spring events promise to be fun-filled events, with a host of trade stalls, funfair rides, activities and street performances on offer, whilst also providing visitors the chance to #ChooseLocal and support their local high street.

Last year’s Ystrad Mynach Spring Fair attracted over 6,000 visitors to the town centre, an increase in footfall of over 5,000 visitors in comparison to the previous Saturday. Other events held in the town centres in 2022 brought their busiest day of the year with huge numbers coming out to support the events and the high streets.

Councillor Jamie Pritchard, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration & Climate Change said: “We are thrilled to announce the return of Ystrad Mynach Spring Fair and Caerphilly Food & Drink Festival, along with the addition of a new Blackwood Spring Fair and Bargoed May Fair.

“We want to ensure events are spread across the county borough, so the additional two dates in the diary will support our local traders by bringing greater numbers to our county borough’s high streets. Keep an eye out for news of additional events coming soon.”

Bargoed Town Council said “We are delighted to announce that in response to residents’ feedback we have worked with the events team at Caerphilly Council and will be delivering a jointly funded event on Saturday 13th May 2023.  This event will involve a full road closure throughout the whole town centre and will include entertainment, children’s rides, family activities and various stalls.”

These are just four of the fantastic events that Caerphilly County Borough has on offer this year. A full programme of all 2023 events will be released shortly and information will be listed on www.visitcaerphilly.com and via the Visit Caerphilly social media channels.

The events programme is funded by Caerphilly Council with many being financially supported or match funded by the local town and community councils. For the next two years the events will also receive significant support from the UK Shared Prosperity Funding.
