Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay will host six days of free Halloween activities for families during the October half-term.

The programme runs from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October, from 11am to 4pm, with a different activity each day and a Halloween Haunt Trail running throughout the week. All activities are free to attend.

Decorate Your Own Pumpkin opens the week on Monday 26 October, followed by Spooky Face Painting on Tuesday 27 October and Spooky Lantern Making on Wednesday 28 October. Spooky Face Painting returns on Thursday 29 October, and Halloween Biscuit Decorating takes place on Friday 30 October.

The week ends on Saturday 31 October with a Halloween Finale Event, when families are encouraged to come dressed in costume, have their faces painted, take on the Halloween Trail and take photos at Mermaid Quay’s selfie spots.

For the Halloween Haunt Trail, families pick up a trail form and look for Halloween character stations at participating stores. Each character reveals a secret letter, and children collect the letters to uncover a mystery word. Completed trail sheets can be handed in by Saturday 31 October to claim a Halloween treat.

Mark Lemon, Centre Manager at Mermaid Quay, said: “We had such a fantastic response to our free family activities over the summer, so we’re really pleased to be bringing another programme of free activities to Mermaid Quay for October half-term.”

He added: “We hope families will come back throughout half-term to experience the different activities and make a day of it in Cardiff Bay, with plenty of places to eat, drink and enjoy while they’re here.”

The Halloween programme follows Mermaid Quay’s Six Weeks of Summer, when families visited the waterfront every Thursday during the school holidays for free nature and wildlife-inspired activities.
