Imperial Classical Ballet will perform Swan Lake and Giselle on consecutive evenings at Swansea Grand Theatre this month.
Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake will be performed on Tuesday 20 October at 7.00pm, followed by Giselle on Wednesday 21 October at 7.00pm.
Swan Lake tells the story of Princess Odette, transformed into a swan by the sorcerer Rothbart, and Prince Siegfried, whose promise of true love may be her only chance of breaking the spell. The production brings together international dancers and live orchestral music.
Giselle, first performed in Paris in 1841, follows a young village girl whose love for Albrecht ends in betrayal. In the second act, Giselle joins the Wilis, ghostly spirits of young women betrayed before their wedding day. The ballet is set to Adolphe Adam’s score.
The Swansea performances form part of Amande Concerts’ 20th Anniversary Season, marking two decades of bringing classical productions to theatres throughout the United Kingdom.
Tickets are available from the Swansea Grand Theatre box office.
