Cardiff Bus has announced its charity partner of the year.

The operator has pledged to support the Motor Neuron Disease Association (MNDA) throughout 2023-2024.

The charity funds research, improves care and provides support for people with Motor Neuron Disease, their families and carers.

As part of the sponsorship, Cardiff Bus will be running fundraising events throughout the year to provide vital funds for a cause that is close to the hearts of the company with a number of colleagues having experience of family members being diagnosed with MND.

Jen Doody, HR Director at Cardiff Bus, said: “We are extremely proud to be supporting the Motor Neuron Disease Association over the next year.

“MND affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK, and due to its rarity, it’s so important to support the vital work being done by the MNDA as it funds research and improves care for those living with the disease.

“We are delighted to be supporting such a fantastic charity and we can’t wait to start raising funds and awareness.”

Kate Bryon at Motor Neuron Disease Association, said: ‘The Motor Neurone Disease Cardiff Branch is incredibly grateful to Cardiff Bus for choosing us as their Charity of the Year for 2023/24.

“Our Branch Volunteers provide care and support through their Association Visitors to people and their families living with MND, and we provide timely financial support for adaptations to the home to make it possible for people living with MND to

remain within their home in comfort and with dignity. We also campaign to raise awareness about MND, to encourage better understanding and to improve social and medical care.

“Lastly, but probably most importantly we help fund vital research into the causes and eventually a cure for MND. Cardiff Branch rely almost entirely on the generosity of the public for our funding, without which we would find it difficult to maintain our current level of support.

“We look forward to an exciting year working with our partners at Cardiff Bus.’
