Swoon Gelato, who are situated on the corner of Duke Street Arcade, have created a mouthwatering new gelato flavour in honour of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour coming to the city on Tuesday 18th June, and will be celebrating by giving free gelato to fans.

Founded in Bristol in 2016, Swoon is a family-run business which has since expanded to six stores, including one in London’s Selfridges food hall. They opened in the heart of Cardiff in 2023 and have fast become a firm favourite for tourists and locals alike, and to mark Taylor Swift’s huge Eras tour coming to the city next week, the family have created an exclusive ‘Swiftie’ flavour, aptly named ‘You’re On Your Cone Kid’, after one of the singer’s famous songs.

The new gelato flavour, combines chocolate, raspberry and caramel, and was created by co-founder Ana Maria Forte and their gelato chief gelatiere Stefano. Swoon ran a social media competition to name the flavour, encouraging their tens of thousands of followers to get creative with a Taylor Swift name, and after receiving hundreds of entries, the winning name; You’re On Your Cone Kid’, was selected by Ana Maria’s daughter Gabriella, who herself is a huge Swifite.

Currently on a huge worldwide tour, Taylor Swift will be landing in Cardiff for a sold-out show at The Principality Stadium next Tuesday, and to celebrate, Swoon will be offering fans the chance to try the new flavour for free on the day. The first 30 people in the queue when they open the doors at 1pm will be treated to a scoopy of the new gelato either in a tub or a cone, and gig-goers will be able to buy the new flavour, alongside Swoon’s wide variety of dairy and vegan options throughout the day.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the new flavour, co-founder Ana Maria Forte said:

“With our daughter Gabriella being such a big Taylor Swift fan, the concert has been a hot topic in our household ever since it was announced, and we started thinking about how we could welcome Swifties from across the region to Cardiff with a bit of a treat – Swoon style – and the flavour was born!

“Working with our chief gelatiere Stefano, we created a flavour that we thought was the perfect balance of fruity and indulgent, and everyone who’s tried it so far has fallen in love. We debated on names but decided who best to name it but the fans, and we’ve been overwhelmed by all of the amazing suggestions. It was only right to let Gabriella choose the winning name, seeing as she’s the biggest Swiftie of us all, and we can’t wait for people to try it on the day!”

Swoon’s Taylor Swift flavour will be available from 1pm until 11pm on Tuesday 18th June, and the first 30 customers in the queue will receive a free serving, The flavour will then be available exclusively at Swoon Cardiff for a limited time.
