Pupils at Lansdowne Primary School are celebrating after being named a regional finalist in a nationwide Frozen sing‑along competition, putting them in the running for an unforgettable performance opportunity at Disneyland Paris.
The competition, which marks the launch of the highly anticipated World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris, saw more than 10,000 schools across the UK take part.
Schools were invited to rehearse and perform the iconic song “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen, with only 12 schools selected as regional finalists.
Year 4 pupils from Lansdowne Primary School impressed judges with a standout, creative performance, praised for its exceptional teamwork, creativity and strong sense of school spirit. The pupils took an imaginative approach, delivering the song as a news‑style weather report, inspired by the snowy setting of Frozen.
In keeping with the school’s inclusive ethos, the performance incorporated British Sign Language (BSL) and used pupils’ home languages alongside the song lyrics, highlighting the diversity of the school community and ensuring everyone was represented.
The school’s entry is now being judged by world‑renowned singer Katherine Jenkins OBE, alongside representatives from Disneyland Paris, AttractionTickets.com and leading educational publisher Twinkl, who are delivering the campaign.
“I had so much fun rehearsing and filming and even if we don’t win overall- I loved taking part!” said one pupil and another added “It’s been a really fun thing for us to do-some of us really stepped out of our comfort zone!”
Caitlin Watts, Year 4 teacher at the school commented: “I’m really proud of pupils for their sustained effort and enthusiasm for their participation, even giving up their own time to rehearse- we’ve really captured the spirit of our school community and this really shows what Lansdowne is all about!
If Lansdowne Primary School is named the overall winner, pupils and their families will receive a three‑night, all‑expenses‑paid trip to Disneyland Paris, with the chance to perform live on stage with Katherine Jenkins as part of the celebrations for the opening of the World of Frozen, the largest expansion of the park to date.
A Cardiff Council spokesperson said: “The entry from Lansdowne Primary School truly reflects the school community and brings creativity, inclusivity and teamwork to their performance. To be selected as a regional finalist is a huge achievement for everyone involved and we wish them the best of luck.”
The national winner will be announced by the end of April, following the final round of judging.
