CARDIFF Bay’s iconic entertainment venue, The Red Dragon Centre, is welcoming Lunar New Year with a celebration on 2 February.
To mark the Year of the Snake, the Centre is once again partnering with Cardiff Confucius Institute to hold a fun-filled day of activities including calligraphy, paper cutting, lantern making plus music and dance performances between 12-5pm.
Adding to the festivities, a Chinese Lion will be joining in the celebrations and meeting visitors at 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm.
In between festivities, visitors can take their pick from the Centre’s range of restaurants, including Chinese restaurant Everytime and Japanese all-you-can-eat Volcano, or the newly opened Yemek which launched at the Centre in December 2024.
Emma Constantinou, Marketing Manager at The Red Dragon Centre, said: “We’re so excited to be partnering with Cardiff Confucius Institute once again. Last year was a huge success, and we can’t wait to welcome the public back to the centre for more fun-filled activities, along with our beloved entertainment venues and eateries to provide the perfect family day out. Our celebrations would not be complete without the iconic Chinese Lion who will help us celebrate the Lunar New Year in style.
“We are incredibly proud to be delivering an event where anyone from the public can participate in and celebrate Lunar New Year for free.
Guoxiang Xia, Academic Director of Cardiff Confucius Institute said: “We are delighted to be returning to The Red Dragon Centre for another incredible programme of celebrations for the Spring Festival. It is such a wonderful time of year, and a joy to be able to provide a free day of fun for families, bringing to life the magic of the festival and creating memories for a lifetime.”
The Red Dragon Centre is home to a multitude of interactive, lifestyle and food and drink venues including Odeon Cinema, the home of Wales’ only IMAX screen, and the Hollywood Bowl which have been key Centre attractions since the beginning.
The Centre hosts a range of additional brands that make up an intrinsic part of the entertainment and dining experience, including Grosvenor Casino, Five Guys, Spice Route, Volcano, EasyThali, EveryTime, and Zaika.
The Centre is also the site of the Capital FM South Wales studio, which was formerly Red Dragon FM, as well as Heart FM. Today, you’ll find the likes of Josh and Kally broadcasting their Capital Drive Show live from there every weekday.
