A Cardiff-based project management, quantity surveyor and cost consultancy practice has announced record results for the first full year of trading following a shareholder buyout in 2023.
TC Consult has recorded its most successful financial year to date [year ending January 2025] in its 19-year history, achieving a turnover of £904,000 – a 12% increase on the previous year – while maintaining a strong EBITDA margin.
The company, known for its expertise in project management and quantity surveying, has attributed the record-breaking performance to enhanced customer relationships and continued investment in innovation and talent.
In the past year, the consultancy has expanded its staff from 10 to 14, welcoming two new quantity surveyors, a project manager and an executive assistant, significantly increasing its capability to meet client demands.
TC Consult’s industry-leading performance was further acknowledged when it won Consultancy of the Year at the Insider Media Wales Property Awards 2024, reflecting its established reputation in the Welsh property market.
The growth follows a successful shareholder buy out by Paul Tambini in 2023, achieved with funding from the Development Bank of Wales, which saw Mr Tambini become the sole owner of the business.
Reflecting on the firm’s growth figures, Paul Tambini, director of TC Consult, said: “To say I’m over the moon with this performance is an understatement.
“This past year has marked a significant milestone for us, not only financially, of course, but also in how we’ve strengthened relationships with our clients and fostered a culture of collaboration and commitment internally.
“By investing in our team and innovative technology, including the use of AI, we’re ensuring we consistently deliver beyond expectations for our clients.”
TC Consult has developed a particular specialism in working on listed buildings and heritage projects.
One of the major projects it delivered last year was the multi-million-pound refurbishment of Wrexham’s General and Butchers Markets, both Grade II-listed buildings. The projects involved transforming the historic market spaces into modern facilities for food and dry goods traders, while preserving their architectural significance. The scheme was successfully delivered in collaboration with SWG, Lawray Architects, CWC and SP Project.
Another landmark project was the extensive redevelopment of Swansea’s Palace Theatre, a Grade II-listed building. This multi-million-pound scheme transformed the historic six-storey theatre into a dynamic workspace featuring shared offices, meeting rooms and podcast studios. The redevelopment, led by Swansea Council with support from the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns funding, was delivered in partnership with R&M Williams, GWP Architecture and Hydrock.
New clients secured in the past year include The Outward Bound Trust, Tai Tarion, Bron Afon Community Housing and The Youth Hostel Association.
Looking ahead, TC Consult has reaffirmed its commitment to Cardiff by extending its lease in the city centre for an additional five years. Its growth strategy will prioritise sustainable financial performance and outstanding client service.
“Our renewed lease in Cardiff underlines our commitment to Wales and sets the stage for our next phase of sustainable growth”, Paul Tambini added. “We want to build on what we have achieved this year, with staff and customer satisfaction remaining at the very heart of everything we do.”
