Council helps with the swift reopening of Maesteg Post Office

Maesteg Post Office is up and running and repairs to the building will be carried out within weeks with the help of Bridgend County Borough Council. This follows a burglary that took place during the early hours of 25 October, resulting in property damage and a significant loss of funds.

Replacement glazing and repairs to the damaged roller shutter are set to be completed during the next three weeks. Located within the conservation area of Maesteg Market, the Post Office will be supported by the council when considering what additional security measures can be installed in line with planning conditions.

One local resident stresses the importance of the service that is provided by the Post Office: “The Post Office in Maesteg is more than just that – it is more like a community hub.  The staff there are incredible and will go over and above their job description to help people, especially those vulnerable members of our community.”

In a town of approximately 21,000 residents, the Maesteg community deserves access to Post Office provision. As landlord of the property at Maesteg Market, we are working with the Post Office operator to repair the damage, reinstate the security provisions and to have the branch operating in its usual way as soon as possible.
