The Cyber Resilience Centre for Wales (WCRC) is delighted to announce another significant appointment to its board welcoming Director of Finance & Resources for the North Wales Police, Seb Phillips.

Having worked in both the private and public sector, Seb brings to the role a wealth of experience in financial operations and leadership across numerous businesses. Starting his career on the Royal Mail’s finance graduate scheme, Seb then took on the position of Finance Tutor with BPP Ltd.

Following this, he relocated to North Wales, where he worked within several high-profile organisations including the North Wales Police for the first time as Benefit Realisation Accountant, where he focussed on driving value from the various change projects and programmes taking place. After several years operating as a Finance Director in the private sector, he then re-joined the force in 2019 where he now works as Director of Finance & Resources.

Commenting on his WCRC management board position, Seb said: “I’m a big believer that excellent financial management matters regardless of the sector, and I’ve always wanted to utilise the skill sets I have garnered over the years to a make a difference to North Wales and its people. My role at North Wales Police certainly does this, but I’m thrilled to also be using my position to support the work the Cyber Resilience Centre delivers across Wales where I hope to assist the team to continue to strengthen cyber resilience across Welsh businesses.”

Detective Superintendent Paul Peters and Director of the WCRC, added: “It’s great news for the centre that Seb has joined out Management board. He brings a wealth of expertise from working both in policing and the private sector which strengthens an already experienced board.”

“Secure technology is vital to enable the growth of SMEs and the Welsh economy and businesses must protect their property, data and supply chains in order to be successful. We are very lucky to have a board which brings together such valuable expertise and support, so that we are able to provide the best guidance we can to continue to protect those who are vulnerable and ensure they are protected against any future cyber threats”.
