Deloitte Wales continues with its commitment to promote talent from within as it announces a new partner and directors for 2021.

Based in Cardiff, Shaun Curtis has been promoted to tax partner, with Rob Wallace and Dean Thomas promoted to director in the financial advisory team.

Shaun hails from Pembrokeshire, attending Cardiff University before joining the firm as a graduate in 2007. He currently leads the business tax team in Wales, a team of 55, and is national lead of the Entrepreneur and Advisory Group for private client services.

Across the UK, Deloitte promoted 79 to partner, 19 of which are from the firm’s regional practices. Within the South West & Wales practice as a whole, which incorporates both Bristol and Cardiff, there were a total of two new partners and nine director promotions.

Ian Howse, office senior partner for Deloitte Wales, says: “It has never been so important to nurture and develop the talent we have in Wales. It is important for our clients and equally so for our teams as we continue to come out of what has been a challenging year for us all.

“I am thrilled for Shaun, Rob and Dean who have continued to thrive despite adapting to a new way of working whilst continuing to support clients and colleagues. We continue to invest in talent and these promotions are the best example of showcasing, not just the expertise in the region, but the opportunities available within Deloitte.

“From graduate to partner, Shaun in particular is testament to the fact that you do not have to move to achieve your ambitions.”

Deloitte promoted 79 partners across the UK this year of which 24 (30%) were women, this takes Deloitte’s female partners to 282 (25%). 11 new partners are from Ethnic Minority backgrounds*, equating to 14% of the promotions.

Richard Houston, senior partner and chief executive of Deloitte UK, said: “This past year has undoubtedly emphasised the need for businesses to think and act with agility, adapting at pace to a changing market and shifting client demands. These promotions represent a significant achievement for those individuals who have demonstrated an ability to navigate the uncertainty, prioritise the wellbeing of our people, and support our clients through these challenging times.”
