Cardiff’s premier Halloween event is back for 2024, and this year’s Cardiff Halloween Festival promises to be bigger, better, and packed with more Halloween magic than ever before. Running from 12th October to 31st October, the festival takes place at the stunning Coedarhydyglyn Park, near Culverhouse Cross, St. Nicholas. With three distinct experiences—Daytime Festival, Twilight Festival, and Scare Fest—there’s something for everyone, whether you’re seeking pumpkin picking family fun, enchanting Halloween evenings, or spine-tingling thrills.

Daytime Festival: Pumpkin Picking Family Fun for All Ages

During the day, the festival is a haven for families, packed with wholesome Halloween activities. Visitors can explore the vast pumpkin fields, filled with tens of thousands of pumpkins perfect for picking. The littlest adventurers will love the Munchkin Pumpkin Patch, complete with pint-sized pumpkins, Halloween houses, and a mini straw bale maze designed just for them.

    Daytime Pumpkins

New for 2024, the Monster Bash Family Disco invites families to dance the day away inside our lively disco tent, while the Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt offers a fun and interactive way to explore the festival grounds. Children and adults alike can also take part in Circus Workshops, learning circus skills like juggling and diabolo, or enjoy live stage shows and spooky storytelling.

For those with a magical touch, the Witch and Wizard Academy offers enchanting arts and crafts where young spell-casters can create their own wands or mix up some potions. Meanwhile, adventurers can navigate the Neon Spider Quest, a glow-in-the-dark maze where hidden spiders challenge visitors to find them as they navigate the twisting pathways. Movie buffs will love the Skellywood Walk of Fame, a maze that brings famous film scenes to life with a spooky, skeleton twist.

And that’s just the beginning—there’s so much more to discover! From photo opportunities and fairground rides to face painting and axe throwing, the Daytime Festival is packed with surprises around every corner, offering the perfect Halloween adventure for families.

Twilight Festival: An Enchanted Evening for the Whole Family

As the sun sets, the Twilight Festival transforms the festival grounds into a glowing wonderland, perfect for families looking to enjoy Halloween in the evening. Visitors can wander through glowing pumpkin fields, roast marshmallows by the fire pits, and be mesmerised by the festival’s spectacular fire show.

The Twilight Festival also features the quirky Singing Pumpkins, where guests can sing along to Halloween classics, and live performances on the Howl-O-Scream Stage. Best of all, the Twilight Festival includes everything from the Daytime Festival, so you can enjoy all the activities—like pumpkin picking, circus workshops, and the Skellywood Walk of Fame—with a magical twist under the stars.

Family-friendly walkabout performers roam the grounds, adding a fun and interactive element for all visitors. The Twilight Festival creates a magical, enchanting atmosphere, offering a warm and inviting evening experience that the whole family can enjoy.

Scare Fest: A NIGHTmare to Remember

For those seeking a heart-pounding thrill, Scare Fest is back and more terrifying than ever, offering a truly immersive horror experience for visitors aged 14 and over. With three intense, live-action scare mazes, Scare Fest is not for the faint of heart.

Brave visitors can face the horrors of Frau Totenreich’s Circus of Screams, encounter the vengeful witches of The Veiled Coven, or attempt to survive the apocalyptic chaos of Outbreak: District 19. These terrifying mazes promise a night full of scares that will leave even the boldest thrill-seekers trembling.

Beyond the scare mazes, Scare Fest includes other exciting attractions like axe throwing, thrill rides, tarot readings, and plenty of spooky street food to keep visitors fuelled throughout the night. To add to the terror, walkabout actors roam the festival grounds, keeping the frights coming even outside of the mazes.

Delicious Food and Drink for All Tastes

No Halloween festival is complete without a feast, and Cardiff Halloween Festival doesn’t disappoint! Visitors can enjoy a variety of delicious street food, including churros from Count Crumbula’s Creeps and Sweets, comforting dishes from Mummies Mac & Cheese, freshly baked pizzas from Dragon Fired Pizza, and burgers from Happy Harvest Burger & Fries.

For those looking to unwind with a drink, The Laughing Crow offers a range of Halloween-themed cocktails and beverages, perfect for warming up on a crisp autumn evening.
