Four men have been jailed after they were caught selling class A drugs on the streets of Swansea.
58-year-old Barry Iylett, from Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, was intercepted by plain-clothed officers from the Organised Crime Team when he was in the middle of a drug deal in the St. Thomas area on September 9 last year. Officers’ investigation quickly tied Iylett to the ‘Marlow’ drugs line and established the AirBNB he had been staying in.
On approaching the AirBNB, three further men were seen fleeing the property with bags of their clothing, before entering a taxi which drove them to Swansea train station. The three men inside the taxi were duly detained.
46-year-old Joseph Bilcough, from Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire was found in possession of a mobile phone which was used to bulk text customers to offer the supply of heroin and crack cocaine. The phone was tied to the ‘Marlow’ line.
24-year-old Finlay Price-Smallman, from Hertford, Hertfordshire and 23-year-old Andrew Avraam were also in the taxi.
On January 23, both Barry Iylett and Joseph Bilcough were sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin; Iylett also pleading guilty to possessing heroin.
Finlay Price-Smallman has been sentenced to 31 months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin and possession of cannabis resin. Andrew Avraam has been sentenced to 27 months in prison after also pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin.
Sergeant Luke Tucker said:
“Through joint work between South Wales Police and Metropolitan Police, officers were able to evidence that all four men were working together and had been travelling from England to supply heroin and crack cocaine on the streets of Swansea, branding their drug line as the ‘Marlow’ line.
“Swansea and the wider community are better off now that these men have been all been sent to prison.”
