The Red Dragon Centre is joining organisations nationwide to celebrate ‘One Great Day’, a charity fundraising day in aid of local children’s health charities that support families, including Tŷ Hafan.

The entertainment centre is inviting families and friends to Cardiff Bay on Saturday 22 June in celebration of One Great Day between 12pm and 4pm.

With Toy Story 4 hitting screens at the Red Dragon Centre on 21 June, the entertainment centre welcomes lookalike mascots in tribute of the original characters.

Next to meeting the special visitors, children can enjoy various free activities, including face painting, colouring and relaxing on a 4-metre grass sofa in the Centre’s Green Zone, whilst taking a selfie with a big grass rhino.

Emma Constantinou, Marketing Manager at The Red Dragon Centre, said:

“We’re excited to support One Great Day this year and see everyone from the Centre getting involved for such a good cause.

“We hope families and children will have a great time with all the activities taking place and hopefully the day will raise money for those charities that support so many families throughout Wales and the UK.”

Alongside raising money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH), who launched the One Great Day series of community events, the Red Dragon Centre will fundraise for Welsh charity Tŷ Hafan.

Natalie Whyatt, Senior Fundraising Executive (Corporate Partnerships) at Tŷ Hafan said:

“We are delighted to be part of this exciting and fun packed family event to celebrate ‘One Great Day’ at The Red Dragon Centre. The team’s enthusiasm and support are incredible, and we simply couldn’t provide our lifeline services to the families that need them without fundraising efforts like these and the generosity of the general public.”

Children can enjoy various free activities, including face painting, colouring and relaxing on a 4-metre grass sofa in the Centre’s Green Zone, whilst taking a selfie with a big grass rhino.

Simply Gym at the Red Dragon Centre will kick-off the festivities with their ultimate rowing challenge. The Simply Gym team will live row 130 miles in the Centre, representing the exact distance from The Red Dragon Centre to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

‘One Great Day’ was established in 2014, introducing a series of community events throughout June to appeal for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, and other locally based children’s health charities. To date, the events have raised over £500,000 for more than 110 different children’s health charities across the UK.
