Motorists and public transport users are being advised to plan ahead as a series of road closures will be in place across Cardiff city centre to accommodate the Pride Cymru Parade.

The annual parade will take place on Saturday, June 13, with thousands of people expected to take part in celebrations across the Welsh capital.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 11am and finish at approximately 2.30pm. However, some roads, including Castle Street, will remain closed until midnight to allow for event infrastructure to be dismantled.

The parade route will start on Westgate Street before travelling along Castle Street, High Street, St Mary Street, Mill Lane, The Hayes, John Street, Park Place, Greyfriars Road, Kingsway, Duke Street and back onto Castle Street.

To facilitate the event, Cardiff Council has announced a number of road closures throughout the day.

Roads closed from 6am until midnight

The following roads will be closed from 6am until midnight for event set-up and take-down:

    • Castle Street, from the junction with Westgate Street, Duke Street and Kingsway to the junction with North Road
    • Cowbridge Road East from the junction with Cathedral Road

Cowbridge Road East will remain accessible to residents, buses and taxis between 6am and 8am, and again from 2.30pm until midnight.

Rolling road closures from 8am until 2.30pm

A rolling road closure system will be implemented while the parade is moving through the city centre. Roads will reopen once the parade has passed and it is safe to do so.

    Affected roads include:

    • Westgate Street
    • Quay Street
    • Guildhall Place
    • Golate
    • High Street
    • St Mary Street

Additional closures from 10am until 2pm

The following roads will also be closed between 10am and 2pm:

    • Wood Street
    • Central Square
    • Park Street
    • Havelock Street
    • Scott Road
    • St Mary Street from the junction with Wood Street
    • Mill Lane
    • The Hayes
    • John Street
    • Queen Street
    • Park Place
    • Greyfriars Road from Boulevard de Nantes through to Kingsway

Access to Cardiff Bus Interchange will be maintained via Tudor Street and Wood Street throughout the event.

    Bus services affected

Cardiff Bus has confirmed that services will be diverted between 11am and 1.15pm due to the road closures.

During this period, buses will operate from satellite locations, similar to arrangements used during major events at the Principality Stadium:

    • Churchill Way for eastern routes
    • Greyfriars Road for northern routes
    • Tudor Street for western routes

The Bus Interchange will remain open and accessible via Tudor Street and Wood Street.

Residents, visitors and commuters are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and check travel information before setting out on Saturday.
