Families across south Wales can round off half term with a full day of free science and tech workshops hosted by Cardiff Metropolitan University as part of the Cardiff Science Festival 2023.

On Saturday 17th February, from 10am-5pm, Cardiff Met will run a day of interactive sessions suitable for primary school children, young adults in secondary school and their parents on its Llandaff Campus, with the aim of giving children and young people more access to science and tech, for free.

Workshops will include examining red blood cells under a microscope; learning about taste genes, antibodies and viruses; cyber security and how to code; blood pressure measurement and measuring lung function. Attendees can also use Cardiff Met’s virtual reality booths and watch short videos on biological processes, and meet the School of Technologies’ robots.

The day will be split into halves, with staff from Cardiff Met’s School of Sport and Health Sciences running workshops from 10am-1pm. The School of Technologies will take the afternoon sessions from 1pm-5pm, with workshops lasting between 15-60 minutes each dependent on the workshop.

Cardiff Science Festival’s annual event runs this year on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February. The two-day festival brings science, technology, engineering and maths to venues across Cardiff in an accessible way for a range of ages.

Attendees can register in advance for the festival or on-site on the day itself. For the full list of workshops taking place at Cardiff Met University and to register, go to: https://bit.ly/3OnYOWi
