High-tech spinout relocates with office and laboratory space in Pontypool

A Brunel University tech spinout specialising in Counter Current Chromatography has relocated to Mamhilad Park Estate as the company scales-up to meet growing demand from major multinational pharmaceutical companies.

Dynamic Extractions Limited was first established to commercialise the unique and world leading Hydrodynamic Counter Current Chromatography (HdCCC) technology developed by the Brunel Institute of Bioengineering (BIB) team led by Professor Ian Sutherland. In addition to offering a range of hydrodynamic HPCCC processors, the team of five now specialises in the  extraction, separation, purification and provision of high purity target compounds.

With a client list that includes Pfizer, Unilever and Roche, the company has taken 1040 sq ft of laboratory and office space at Mamhilad Park Estate near Pontypool in Torfaen.

Senior Scientist  Colin Bright said: “As a high-tech spinout, we are recognised for our expertise in the application and innovation in all aspects of process development involving the extraction, separation, purification and provision of target compounds from any starting source material.

“Our processors have evolved since our launch as a high-tech spinout and are now used in a wide range of process applications at an industrial scale. Having the right premises for our laboratory, office and warehousing requirements is essential as we continue to evolve hence our decision to relocate to Mamhilad.

“As a business park, Mamhilad has a unique setting with good accessibility to the M4 and M5. We’ve been able to complete the fit-out to our own exact specification and we have the flexibility to take additional space when needed. It’s a great location for us as we continue to grow the business here in Wales.”

Peter Downes is Operations Manager for Johnsey Estates UK Limited, owners of Mamhilad Park Estate. He said: “From small start-ups and sole traders to large manufacturing businesses like Frog Bikes and MS-RT, we have a wide range of occupiers here at Mamhilad because we offer real flexibility and competitive rates. As a high-tech company, Dynamic Extractions is an important addition to our thriving community.”

Situated to the east of Pontypool, adjacent to the A4042 (T) dual carriageway, Mamhilad Park Estate links directly to Junctions 25A and 26 of the M4 motorway. Space ranges from 180 square feet up to adaptable open plan suites at 4,250 square feet with flexible leases or longer-term arrangements if required. Industrial occupiers can access 3-phase electrical supply, via a direct connection to the National Grid. Units up to 75,000 sq ft are currently available.
