Key economic insight to equip North Wales leaders for year ahead

North Wales businesspeople have been invited to hear a fresh economic outlook to help ensure they blossom in the year ahead.

This spring, the North Wales branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) will bring company leaders together to learn the potential opportunities for growth and development, using trends both segmented to the region and across the UK.

As part of its first event of the year, the IoD lunch will welcome Alwen Williams, portfolio director of Ambition North Wales to discuss the latest Growth Deal plans, and financial economist and Bangor University senior lecturer Professor Ed Jones for an economic update.

Taking place on Friday 15 March at Bangor Business School, the event falls during a critical period in the Welsh political calendar, with the new first minster to be revealed on the following day.

David Roberts, chair of the region’s IoD, believes the networking event will be a perfect chance for decision makers to gain confidence and ramp up knowledge ahead of the announcement.

David, who also runs the North East Wales branch of advisory service The Alternative Board (TAB), said: “Major developments are on the horizon for both Wales and the UK, with a general election set for later in the year.

“Political change can cause uncertainty for those running an organisation, so receiving expert advice on current monetary trends from Ed will hopefully provide attendees with the confidence to adapt and feel secure in their plans.

“In addition, Alwen will share an overview on the regional growth deal, delving into the latest developments and opportunities for further prosperity.”

The event aims to bring company directors across a range of sectors together, from those in creative industries, through to construction and professional services.

David added: “It’s a brilliant chance to get together in an informal setting to openly discuss potential challenges and opportunities facing the business community, which will help strengthen the region for the year ahead and beyond.

“Places will be limited so we encourage those who are interested to purchase a ticket as early as possible.”
