The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, is gearing up for another busy summer season as weekday casual swims and after-school fun sessions return from next month.
Located in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, the popular outdoor attraction is preparing for its 11th summer, with thousands of people already having enjoyed the heated pools this year through winter cold water sessions, early morning swims and weekend family fun activities.
From Monday, June 1, Lido Ponty will expand its timetable to include weekday daytime casual swims, offering four sessions designed for relaxed and lane swimming during term time.
The sessions are aimed at adults looking for quieter swims while children are in school, families who home school, and people wanting to fit in a lunchtime swim while working in Pontypridd.
Two after-school family fun sessions will also be added on weekdays from the same date, giving children the chance to enjoy the inflatable obstacle course, water zorb and paddle boats after school.
The expanded summer programme now includes:
- Early morning swims seven days a week
- Six family fun sessions on weekends, bank holidays and daily during school holidays
- Two after-school fun sessions on weekdays during term time
- Four daytime casual swim sessions during term time
Cllr Scott Emanuel, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Leisure, said: “We are ready for Summer 2026 – the 11th year of the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty.
“Almost one million people from all over the world have enjoyed time at this beautiful attraction, which continues to offer affordable open air swimming for adults and free swimming for those aged 16 and under.
“From cold water swims and family fun in the sun, to special events such as the upcoming Parti Pwll Ponti on July 3, an evening of swimming and music from Menter Iaith, the National Lido of Wales continues to offer something for everyone.
“If you haven’t visited us yet, please do this summer – swim, relax on the terrace, take on the inflatable obstacle course and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park!”
Tickets for all sessions will be available to book online from 9am on Monday, May 18. Organisers have reminded visitors that tickets must be purchased online in advance, with no walk-in tickets available.
Visitors booking early morning or daytime casual swims should use the early morning section online, while after-school, weekend and school holiday sessions can be booked through the family fun section.
Swimmers can choose to book standard swimming sessions or purchase activity bands for access to attractions including the inflatable obstacle course, water zorb and paddle boats. Activity bands will also be available to buy at reception on arrival.
The venue has also advised that bookings are limited to a maximum of six people per transaction.
