Maesnewydd Garden Centre

Spring is here and the green-fingered residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf can head back to Maesnewydd Garden Centre and Coffee Shop for all their ‘garden goodies’ – for the first time in two years.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is delighted that Maesnewydd Garden Centre and Coffee Shop in Aberdare is able to open its doors and welcome the public back after being closed for two years due to the global pandemic.

Maesnewydd Garden Centre and Coffee Shop re-opens on Monday, April 11. It will also be open Bank Holidays and on Saturdays from Easter weekend onwards.

Tracey Davies, manager at Maesnewydd Garden Centre and Coffee Shop, said: “We are delighted to be re-opening after being closed for two years due to the global pandemic.

“We are now looking forward to welcoming our customers, old and new, to Maesnewydd. Shop local, support local enterporise and our service and come along and see our newly-stocked garden centre for all your gardening needs.”

With the return of spring and the forthcoming summer months, the friendly and experienced staff are on hand to provide horticultural advice and also to offer visitors some of the best and healthy, home-grown plants in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Run as a support business by the Council’s adult services, Maesnewydd Garden Centre and Coffee Shop, is fully stocked with a huge variety of seeds, plants and small trees to suit all gardeners tastes and requirements – from pots and window boxes to large gardens, smallholdings and allotments.

Providing employment opportunities and facilities for adults with learning and physical disabilities, Maesnewydd is a popular venue for gardeners and also those who just like to meet up and chat with friends in the coffee shop.

Three full-time staff work in the garden centre and coffee shop, supporting up to 12 people on site with learning and physical disabilities. Maesnewydd Garden Centre and Coffee Shop is looking forward to welcoming customers and visitors old and new.

Its professional layout, with full disabled access, guides visitors along rows and rows of vegetables and flowers – plants and seeds. Bags of compost, fertilisers, repellents and garden gifts are also on sale, all at competitive prices.
