Bridgend County Borough Council has confirmed that Maesteg Park FC has formally taken over the self-management of the football pitch at Tudor Park Playing Fields.
The Club, which is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, has been responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the pitch since June 2021.
They have now finalised a 35-year lease for the fields under the Community Asset Transfer (CAT) programme and the local authority has provided funding of £22,205 for drainage and pitch improvements as well as £10,000 for pitch maintenance equipment.
It is great to see a club like Maesteg Park FC, which has ambitions of reaching the higher alliance leagues within the next few years, has fully engaged with the Council and completed the transfer of Tudor Park Playing Fields.
It has already enabled the Club to make substantial improvements to the playing surface and a repair to the nearby culvert by providing investment under the CAT Fund which totals more than £32,000.

Andrew Jones, club secretary of Maesteg Park FC, said: “The process was sometimes daunting especially when dealing with the legal side of things but we could not have done it without the help and assistance of the local authority.
“From start to finish of the process, they helped us with everything – from filling in the various forms to guiding us with the grant applications to ensure we got the most we could regarding the pitch improvements and also the pitch maintenance equipment.
“As they say, good things come to those that wait, and at the end we are very happy with the outcome. We now have full control of our ground which comes with a lot of hard work, but which can also be very rewarding.”
