Mobile unit coming to Cowbridge to bring vaccines closer to home

Patients in Western Vale will be able to get their booster vaccination closer to home this week, thanks to a partnership with Well Pharmacy.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board will be utilising the Well Pharmacy mobile unit in which will be based in the Town Hall car park in Cowbridge.

This unit will improve access for the population and increase the number of booster vaccinations given. This will in turn reduce the length of time for residents in the Western Vale area to travel to receive their vaccination as the vaccines are brought closer to home.

The mobile unit is operating on an appointment only basis at the moment so patients that live and are registered with a GP in the Western Vale area and are eligible for a booster will receive a SMS text message with an appointment time and location.

Please ensure you attend no more than 5 minutes before your appointment, and remember if you are parking in the town hall car park you will need to get a ticket but parking is free for the first 2 hours.

The Well Pharmacy Mobile Unit is in addition to the nine community pharmacies across the Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan who are supporting the delivery of the vaccination programme. Appointments at community pharmacies are also booked through the central booking line with patients auto-scheduled for an appointment at a Community Pharmacy. This is based on their registered GP and residential postcode, and whether there is a Community Pharmacy delivering the vaccine near where they live.

The COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Programme in Cardiff and Vale UHB is continuing to deliver at pace, with Mass Vaccination Centres sites delivering the majority of the programme. The contribution of our Community Pharmacies is significantly increasing the number of vaccinations delivered to the public.
