A packed line-up of music and entertainment has been announced for a free Swansea festival starting today (Friday, 24 February).

People who like to boogie and tap their toes to top tunes can head for the city centre Croeso Festival which will feature a range of live acts.

The two-day event for all ages will celebrate all things Welsh on Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25. It aims to entertain and inspire.

Swansea Council is behind the festival which is presented in association with First Cymru and supported by Welsh Government’s Food & Drink Wales.

Roly Poly will provide children’s entertainment on both days while Mellin Arts will also perform both days.

Eleri Angharad, a country artist from Swansea, will perform on the Friday along with Melda Lois, Araby and Gildas.

Phoenix Choir of Wales will take to the stage on Saturday along with Asha Jane, Dafydd Hedd, Tom Emlyn and Llyffant.

There will be a parade at 12.30pm on Saturday and the afternoon will also feature Sunflowers Wales presenting a thank you to Wales from the Swansea Ukrainian Community.

Host for both days of live music will be Helen Enser Morgan.

The event will feature plenty of free family fun including street entertainers, a Croeso trail, glitter painting and St David’s Day photographs.

On both days, Croeso carries on into the evening. The council has teamed up with Swansea Music Hub, Menter Iaith Abertawe and city centre venues to present Croeso Nightworks, two nights of live Welsh music which complement the array of daytime fun.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, the council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: “We’ve got a great line-up of talented musicians and entertainers to help attract new people into the city centre – both during the daytime and the evening.

“I’m sure everyone attending will enjoy the event which also includes cookery demonstrations by a number of top chefs.

“We’re also delighted to be collaborating with Swansea Music Hub and Menter Iaith Abertawe as part of the Festival again this year. This provides another great opportunity to showcase Welsh talent.”

Chris Hanson, First Cymru’s General Manager, said: “We’re really excited about the weekend’s plans and what they offer families.

“The Croeso team in Swansea have worked hard to make this fabulous free event magical and super-accessible for all ages. We’re proud to be a part of it.”
