The Welsh Government has announced further financial support for businesses in Monmouthshire impacted by Storm Claudia, with grants of up to £3,000 now available.

The additional funding will be released to Monmouthshire County Council to help flood-affected businesses recover and rebuild following the recent devastation.

This funding is in addition to the more than £2.5 million already made available by the Welsh Government following the extreme weather event, which saw a major incident declared.

Rebecca Evans, the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning said:

“Storm Claudia has had a devastating impact on businesses in Monmouth. This additional funding will provide practical support to help affected businesses recover.

“We are committed to standing with Monmouthshire’s business community during this difficult time and we will continue to work closely with Monmouthshire County Council to ensure help reaches those who need it most.”

The initial support package announced last week included:

    • Grants of £500 and £1,000 per home affected by flooding.
    • Funding for emergency response costs, including evacuations, food provision, waste removal and equipment hire.
    • Support for discretionary council tax reductions for flooded households.
    • Discretionary reductions in non-domestic rates for affected properties.
