NEATH INDOOR MARKET has welcomed an exciting new store which has been officially opened by the Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr Steve Hunt.

Goblin Box stocks historical model kits with settings ranging from the Roman era up to World War Two. The new stall will also sell tools and paints needed to get started with the hobby and will be local stockists of Warlord Games.

The stall opened its doors to the public in a launch event at the market on Friday, September 20th, 2024 in which Cllr Hunt opened a ceremonial ribbon.

The new arrival will not just be a retail space. It will also provide a “hobby bar” where customers can build and paint models and a gaming table while socialising with other hobbyists.

Ben Rae, who will run the new outlet, said: “Neath Indoor Market provides a great opportunity for smaller or more niche businesses to operate, I can’t wait to bring something different to the market and town.

“So with model and miniature wargaming being a passion of mine, I am excited to be opening Goblin Box here in Neath. During the time I have been getting the stall ready, the other traders in Neath Indoor Market have been so supportive and welcoming. I would encourage any start-ups to consider a stall here.”

On Fridays, Ben also runs a weekly hobby club in the nearby Gathering Place on Queen Street. Neath. He added: “While wargaming and scale modelling can be a less well known hobby, there is a surprisingly large community in the Neath area, I wanted to provide a space for those involved in it to take part in their hobby locally.”

Another new stall is due to open at Neath Indoor Market soon. Rani’s Brow and Eyelash Lounge will be run by owner Rekha Rani.

Council Leader Cllr Hunt said at the official opening of Goblin Box:

“We warmly welcome Ben and Rekha to Neath Indoor Market and wish them every success with their businesses which will add to the mix of stalls on offer at Neath Indoor Market.”

Neath Indoor Market in Neath town centre is a traditional covered market set in a building which dates back to 1837. For more information about Goblin Box contact Ben Rae on 07403 179333 or email [email protected]
