A newly refurbished GO Outdoors store was officially opened on Saturday 29th July, by TV presenters and outdoor enthusiasts Gethin Jones and Sean Fletcher.

Just before 9 am, Gethin and Sean cut the ribbon at the store’s opening event, welcoming in eager customers who had been queuing outside, and greeting them with goody bags and vouchers to spend inside the newly kitted-out store.

Shortly after this, there was a Q&A session with the two brand ambassadors, in which Cardiff-born presenter Gethin said:

“It’s fantastic to be back home here in Cardiff. On my way I passed by Cardiff Bay and instantly felt a sense of joy and comfort.”

He added: “We talk a lot about the importance of being outdoors, especially after the Covid Pandemic. We had an hour a day to get out and about, and everyone really made the most of it! Now, I’m aware of the need to slow down! If I’ve had a long week of work, getting outside at the weekend, being in the sunshine or rain, whatever it may be… I don’t think I’ve ever been out and not felt better for it.”

With a background in Welsh TV presenting, Sean also spoke of his fondness for getting outside and for coming back to Wales:

“Since joining the GO Outdoors team I’ve had the amazing opportunity to meet some great people who share my passion for spending time outdoors and the benefits this has on our mental and physical wellbeing. I find spending time in the beautiful countryside we have here in Wales and throughout Britain cleansing, restoring and revitalising, and cannot recommend it to you enough.”

The newly refurbished store is part of the vast estate of GO Outdoors stores across the UK. With free and easy parking, it is the go-to destination in Cardiff for outdoor enthusiasts, stocking everything from the latest tents and camping equipment, to waterproof jackets, walking boots, bikes, rucksacks and more.

The 29,000+ft store employs a team of 42 and offers services such as boot and rucksack fitting, as well as collection and drop-off points for parcels from online orders, Evri, UPS and DPD collections.

The store now features refreshed Naylors and Bike 365 concessions, as well as an extended Fishing Republic department, enabling customers to pick up specialist equipment for equestrian, cycling and angling activities alike.

GO Outdoors Cardiff’s address is: Newport Road, CF23 9AE
