Big Splash, Wales’ largest free outdoor arts festival, returns to Newport this summer – and organisers are calling on local performers to take to the stage. Whether you’re a choir, dance group, band, poetry collective or a solo act, this is an open invitation to perform at this year’s event and be part of the celebrations.

Presented by The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre, Big Splash is a much-loved annual festival, drawing thousands of visitors to the city with live music, street theatre, dance, crafts, workshops and activities for all the family.

At the heart of it all are the community performers – a vital part of Big Splash year after year. The festival is once again looking for anyone with a creative passion who wants to perform on the Celebrate Stage, Dock Stage, or at Usk Plaza. All performances must be family-friendly and suitable for all ages.

“We’ve always championed local talent as a core part of the festival,” says Sally-Anne Evans, Community Arts Development Officer at The Riverfront Theatre. “Our Community Callout is an open invitation to groups and individuals to be part of the experience and perform alongside professional acts.”

Big Splash is proud to represent the broad and diverse communities of Newport and South Wales. Performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with a particular welcome to Welsh language acts, artists with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ performers, and members of global majority communities.

Applications close on Sunday 1 June 2025. For more information on how to apply visit: newportlive.co.uk/bigsplash.
