Officers carried out a series of warrants in Ely, Canton, Fairwater, Rumney and Gabalfa, as part of an investigation into the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.

Also seized were four cars including a Mercedes A180 and BMW X2, under the Proceeds of Crime Act and weapons, including a Taser.

Addresses searched on Friday, July 14 were in Heol Poyston and Cwrt Yr Ala Road in Ely, two properties in Cowbridge Road West, and flats in Ash Place in Fairwater, Hazelwood Drive in Rumney and Lydstep Flats, Gabalfa.

Inspector Ben Davies, from South Wales Police, said:

“Class A drug supply causes misery and heartache to communities throughout Cardiff.

“Drug dealers prey on the vulnerability of drug users purely for quick financial gain.

“They have a complete disregard for the consequences, and we will not stand by while our communities continue to suffer.

“Local Neighbourhood Policing Teams works alongside specialist police teams to ensure people can go about their lawful business without fear or provocation.

“Drug dealing will not be tolerated, and we will be relentless in our efforts.”

Daniel Lewis, 37, from Caerau, and Lewis Hicks, 31, from Fairwater, are both charged with conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin, and they appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 15. Seven others arrested are on police bail.

This investigation is just one example of how the police are tackling drug dealing in the community.

They can, and regularly do, act upon the information provided to them by the public.

Anyone with suspicions or information about illegal drug supply is urged to contact South Wales Police.
