A North Wales HR company has been praised for its efforts to be an eco-conscious business.

HR Anchor has had its carbon footprint assessed and found it is almost half that of the average office-based business.

The company’s carbon footprint per employee is 1.64 tonnes Co2 per annum compared with the norm of 2.8 tonnes.

HR Anchor, which recently celebrated its second birthday, has grown quickly and now has a seven-strong team advising almost 60 companies in Wales, the UK and internationally.

In addition to its low carbon footprint, the business also now has an Environmental Sustainability Policy which will drive its future plans.

Staff also recently took advantage of The Woodland Trust’s initiative to plant trees to tackle climate change and have planned a company litter pick in the coming months.

Elissa Thursfield, Managing Director of HR Anchor which has its head office in Rhyl, said: “We are thrilled that the way we choose to run our business by being a paperless office, offering employees remote working, and spending wisely on consumables has given us such a low carbon footprint score.

“We are now exploring avenues to reduce our impact further and offset the carbon we do produce.”

Dan Barton, from business consultancy Landsker which advised the company on its environmental strategy, said: “HR Anchor has been an eco-conscious business from the outset and it is fantastic working with a company that is so committed to sustainability.

“They are leading the way in embedding such an approach into their core business values.”

HR Anchor’s clients include a global eCommerce technology business, Hurricane Modular Commerce, popular online fashion brand, Never Fully Dressed, as well as fast-growing Welsh businesses, construction firm Hollingsworth Group, hot tub retailer UK Leisure Living, recruiter GO2 People and the Jigsaw Education Group.

The company provides clients with the complete range of HR and employment law services and is the sister company of leading North Wales law firm Gamlins Law.
