Pop sensation Olly Murs will headline an outdoor, Saturday set at Swansea’s Singleton Park next summer; the opening date for his huge 25-stop UK tour.

Pop sensation Olly Murs will headline an outdoor, Saturday set at Swansea’s Singleton Park next summer; the opening date for his huge 25-stop UK tour.

With much of 2020 coming to a standstill due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Olly is aiming to put a smile back on everyone’s faces by performing his biggest hits, including tracks from his recently certified triple platinum album ‘Never Been Better’.

It has still been a busy year for Olly, who recently captained England in this year’s Soccer Aid. He is looking to retain his crown as a winning judge on his third series of The Voice, which is currently on hold at the semi-final stages, and is also working on new music to be shared next year.

Olly’s Singleton Park date is part of the one day, family-friendly music festival, DEPOT in the Park, which first took place in Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens back in 2017.

DEPOT in the Park is organised by the live-events arm of Cardiff’s DEPOT venue, who also run Cardiff’s one-day summer festival DEPOT in the Castle.

Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said:

“Swansea Council is delighted to be working with DEPOT to announce this good news today. Singleton Park is a fantastic location for live, outdoor music events and these are always well attended by Swansea residents as well visitors from further afield. The current pandemic has been a devastating blow to the events sector which has not even started to return to business yet.  The hospitality sector has been able to re-open but within constrained operating circumstances in line with government guidelines, but has now suffered once again, by local lockdowns.

The safety of our residents is paramount, and any programme of activities will need to be in accordance with Government guidelines at the time.  However, we are all looking forward, optimistically to next year when hopefully the hospitality and events sectors will be on the path to recovery. DEPOT bringing Olly Murs to Swansea is a great asset to our recovery plan, which includes an exciting events programme for next year.  This will be a tremendous boost for our residents, tourism businesses and for welcoming our visitors back to Swansea once again. We look forward to welcoming Olly Murs back to Swansea in 2021.”

Pre-sale tickets for DEPOT in the Park will be available from 7th October here.
