Opportunity for North Wales businesses to trial coaching service

SME leaders have the chance to take their seat on a professional advisory taster board to help strengthen collaboration within the North Wales business community.

The region’s chair of international mentorship service The Alternative Board (TAB) is hosting two free coaching sessions to allow company directors to share the challenges they face and receive guidance from industry peers.

David Roberts, who has led the North East Wales TAB division for more than eight years, will run the meetings on 18 October and 15 November, with participants urged to bring an organisational problem to the discussion.

To replicate the structure of his executive boards, which include owners of start-ups through to directors turning over more than £20 million, places are limited to six people per session, giving sufficient time for all members to exchange insight.

David, who is also chair of the Institute of Directors (IoD) North Wales and a Fellow of the establishment, said: “The pressure of running a business can leave the person in charge feeling lost, alone, and not sure where to turn when issues arise.

“However, what I’ve found is many of these anxieties are shared widely, whether it be creating a succession plan or finding ways to spend more time with family, making it a no-brainer to draw on each other’s experiences.

“These taster events aim to encourage difficult discussions, and I anticipate attendees will gain some practical knowledge on how to improve their strategies so they can reap the rewards of their hard work.”

David’s approach combines peer-to-peer advisory sessions with one-on-one coaching, where he helps clients shape their priorities by working with them to craft a personal vision.

He added: “I hope to bring a sense of clarity for participants feeling stuck and therefore take us another step closer to strengthening the business landscape in North Wales as a whole.

“To maximise discussion amongst attendees, spaces are limited so don’t delay signing up.”
