Robert Light has become Director of Creative Production and TV Programmes at the Cardiff-based Orchard Media and Events Group with a remit to collaborate with broadcasters, national agencies and brands across the world.

[aoa id=”1″]Robert started out as a researcher 13 years ago and gets his promotion after heading up Orchard’s production team, working alongside Smörgåsbord for the award winning atmospheric TV adverts that starred Hollywood star Luke Evans for Visit Wales; directing promotional films for the likes of UEFA and Principality Building Society; plus an expanding portfolio of broadcast productions for BBC, S4C and international broadcasters on a diverse range of content from Women’s Football to the Volvo Ocean Race, and the Pizza World Championships.[/aoa]

Over the past few years under Rob’s leadership and with a strong production team of 16, Orchard produced over 20 TV and radio programmes with revenues of over £1.5m in the most recent financial period.

    Robert said:

“We’ve had a successful few years, and are way ahead of our plans at the outset. We have such a talented senior team with a variety of skills in commercials, corporate and TV programme production, combining high quality imagery with the art of storytelling. We now want to evolve further with a new structure to enable me to drive exciting new ideas with Orchard clients and partners around the world, produce larger scale TV commercials and programmes for a wider selection of clients and broadcasters, and a recruitment drive to bring more talent in, initially looking for an experienced Producer / Director.

“Creative industries is an exciting place to be at the moment in Wales, and I believe that collaboration of all kinds is the way to sustain success. At Orchard we are very lucky to work with some great clients, agencies and broadcast partners and we look forward to building on those relationships in the future.”

Orchard collaborated on the Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water campaign which netted three awards at this year’s Chartered Institute of Marketing Awards, working with Heavenly, and Hollywood actor Matthew Rhys to produce the For Wales. Not for Profit ads and experiential events – “a team Wales approach that didn’t just deliver, but delighted” (Morgan Lloyd, Head of Marketing Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water).
