The Parc Dewi Sant site in Carmarthen has opened a wellbeing and healthcare hub which offers a wide range of medical services including a private GP’s surgery.
The historic 38-acre Carmarthenshire site’s history dates back to 1850, and was bought by Parc Dewi Sant Limited in May from Carmarthen Council.
Then, Parc Dewi Sant Ltd announced its plans for redevelopment, with health and wellbeing benefits for the local community at the forefront. These include retaining and recruiting both NHS and private health providers.
The well-being and health hub Medispace has now opened, providing medical businesses and professionals the opportunity to rent treatment rooms for their own practice. The aim is to provide the local Carmarthen community, and beyond, with a range of private health services including GP facilities, audiology and physiotherapy, as well as catering for practitioners who do not have a base or mainly work from home.
Medical practitioners joining the Medispace community will benefit from fully serviced, recently refurbished, professional space with a communal reception. The building will comply with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (“HIW”) requirements and in addition, support will be given to practitioners operating from Medispace to ensure their own HIW compliance.
In one of its first key developments, Parc Dewi Sant’s owner has worked in partnership with leading private medical service provider, iGP who is due to offer its services from later this month.
The Medispace site is located to the west of Carmarthen city centre, a short drive from the A48 and is both accessible by bus and car with a car park of 720 spaces.
In addition to the growing developments on the Parc Dewi Sant site, numerous flexible spaces have been made available to the community to book online via their website. This includes fully furnished non-clinical space for talking and beauty therapies.
A spokesperson for Parc Dewi Sant, said: “Medispace represents the positive changes we intend to make for the Carmarthenshire community with the Parc Dewi Sant site. With the broad scope of services to provide, and the site’s accessibility, Parc Dewi Sant is set to bring incredible benefits to the health and wellbeing of the local community.
“With the option to rent serviced treatment rooms, Medispace will attract medical professionals and businesses to Carmarthen, providing the opportunity of excellent healthcare for as many people as possible as well as creating a professional medical hub in Carmarthen.
