A popular pick-your-own tulip field in Mid Wales is set to reopen this weekend, with tens of thousands of blooms expected to attract visitors from across the region.

Sennybridge Tulips, located in Sennybridge near Brecon, will open its gates on Saturday (April 11), offering visitors the chance to explore and pick from an impressive display of 35,000 tulips across 50 different varieties.

The attraction has grown significantly in just a year. In 2025, the site featured around 25,000 tulips and 32 varieties, making this year’s display its biggest to date.

Open daily from 10am to 5pm, except Tuesdays, the experience allows visitors to wander through colourful rows of flowers and hand-pick their own stems at £1 each. Entry is free for those aged 18 and under, while adult tickets are priced at £5, with no booking required.

The fields are expected to remain open until early May, although organisers are encouraging visitors to attend sooner rather than later to catch the blooms at their best.

Tulip picking events have surged in popularity in recent years, offering a simple but highly photogenic day out for families, couples and groups of friends.

Known for their vibrant colours and wide variety of shapes, tulips are often associated with spring, renewal and brighter days ahead. Their relatively short blooming season also adds to their appeal, creating a limited window for visitors to experience the fields in full colour.

For many, the experience combines the enjoyment of the outdoors with the opportunity to take home a personalised bouquet, making it both a visual and hands-on activity.

The Sennybridge site has previously hosted seasonal events including pumpkin picking, building a reputation as a go-to rural attraction throughout the year.

With warmer weather arriving and spring in full swing, the return of the tulip fields is expected to draw strong crowds once again, offering one of the most colourful days out in the Welsh countryside this season.
