Yesterday (Thursday, February 26) officers were deployed, alongside partners from Cardiff Council, to Whitchurch, Ely, Canton, Riverside and the city centre.

More than 40 e-bikes were checked in the city centre along with only 7 being found to be illegal, in total 13 vehicles were seized.

This is ongoing partnership work is targeting the illegal and dangerously ridden e-bikes and off-road vehicles in our towns. Last month 55 were seized over two days.

During Thursday’s operation, one man was arrested in Ely on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

Five people who were wanted on warrant for failing to appear at court, were also arrested.

Inspector Tim Ursell said:“These are more great results that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the members of local communities whose lives are continually disrupted by the dangerous and anti-social riding of off-road and illegal road vehicles.

“Combating anti-social behaviour is a key pillar of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee with this op showing our continued commitment in Cardiff to tackling this issue.”
