After a welcome return last summer, the popular All Stars and Dynamos cricket programmes for youngsters are back once more this year.

After the disruption of Covid, a record 472 children (previously 300) signed up in 2021 to enjoy the fun introduction to cricket that builds up skills and helps make new friends.

This year there are 12 local clubs taking part.

They are Burton, Carew, Cresselly, Haverfordwest, Llanrhian, Llechryd, Narberth, Neyland, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Saundersfoot and Whitland.

Now in its sixth year, All Stars Cricket is a fantastic initiative from the England and Wales Cricket Board aimed at providing children aged five to eight with a great first experience in cricket.

The Dynamos programme then caters for those aged eight to 11.

Every child that registers for the All Stars Cricket Programme receives a bonus participant pack including a backpack, cricket bat, cricket ball, a personalised shirt with their name on, cap and a set of stumps.

With Dynamos, each participant gets a New Balance T-shirt with their name and number on, access to the Dynamos App and Topps Cricket Attax cards.

Sport Pembrokeshire Cricket Development Officer Martin Jones, believes the success of All Stars & Dynamos in Pembrokeshire is another example of the way Pembrokeshire County Council’s sport development team helps promote sport to youngsters.

“All Stars and Dynamos Cricket is a great introduction to the game and we’re happy to be a part of it,” he said.

“Not only does it introduce youngsters to the game of cricket it promotes co-ordination, teamwork and communication which are vital skills to youngsters of that age.

“It’s a great social experience too, for parents as well as the children taking part.”
