Leading Cardiff charity City Hospice’s Wag this Way event is returning this March, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The sponsored five-kilometre dog walk will take place in the grounds of Bute Park on 20 March 2022, starting at 11am.

On completion of the sponsored walk, participants will receive a doggy bandana and a goody bag courtesy of Burns Pet Nutrition, and participants can pre-order a Wag this Way commemorative t-shirt to collect on the day. New for 2022 is a Dog Show kindly hosted by Dog Furiendly and excitement is growing to see the entries.

The event, sponsored by Wessex Garages, will be raising money for City Hospice to continue their vital work in the local area. They provide care to people with terminal or life limiting illnesses, as well as essential counselling and support services for the families of their patients. The only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the capital, City Hospice provides care and compassion to 550 patients at any one time.

Gareth Howells, Nissan Brand Director at Wessex Garages, said: “We’re delighted to be headline sponsor for ‘Wag this Way 2022’. Not only does this see us collaborate and support City Hospice, but it’s a great opportunity to get together with our dog-loving fans and support such a good cause.”

Rebecca Wilkinson, Sponsorship Co-ordinator at Burns Pet Nutrition, said: “We are so excited to be a part of Wag this Way 2022. This amazing event will not only help support the vital work carried out by City Hospice, but it will also give dog owners the chance to have fun with their furmily members in the beautiful setting of Bute Park.”

Daisy Magill, Fundraising and Events Coordinator at City Hospice, said: “After our Wag this Way 2020 and 2021 events were cancelled due to the pandemic, we’re so looking forward to finally getting everyone together again for a fun day of fundraising – owners and dogs alike!

Entry to the 5k walk costs £10 per adult (16+). Children aged 3-15 can take part for £5 with those 0-2 years old being free to attend. All children must take part with a registered adult.
