Pyle-based steel fabrication company ‘The Steel Shop Ltd’ (TSS) has revealed significant expansion plans thanks to some transformative funding from Bridgend County Borough Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Founded in September 2021 from humble beginnings, The Steel Shop Ltd has rapidly established itself as a dynamic structural steel fabrication and installation company serving both commercial and domestic markets.

A cash injection in the form of a ‘Business Development Grant’ from the Economy and Enterprise team at the council has enabled the company to make critical investments in advanced equipment, including an Airless Paint Set, CNC Machine, Forklift, Pillar Drill, and Magnetic Drilling Machine.

“This funding has proved a game-changer for our business. We’ve been able to accelerate our growth plans much faster than we could have through organic revenue alone. Our year-on-year growth has hit an impressive 25 per cent, directly translating into increased employment opportunities. The strategic investment has allowed TSS to expand its workforce to 11 full-time employees and achieve an impressive annual turnover exceeding £1.4 million. The company has successfully secured contracts with prominent national builders like Redrow and Llanmoor Homes, demonstrating its competitive edge in the market.”

    Laura Healey, the company’s founder

“We are delighted to be able to support businesses such as Laura’s. The funding has clearly helped to accelerate the growth of the company and help create much needed investment and employment opportunities. This support reinforces our commitment to fostering local business development and economic resilience.”

Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Development and Housing

Looking ahead, The Steel Shop Ltd has ambitious expansion plans, including relocating to larger premises at Bro Castle, Bridgend, and exploring the potential of a second production facility in Bristol.
