Residents, businesses and visitors are being encouraged to share their views on the future of Caldicot town centre as work begins on a new placemaking plan aimed at guiding future investment and improvements.

Monmouthshire County Council and Caldicot Town Council are working in partnership and have appointed LDA Design to help develop the Caldicot Placemaking Plan, which will set out a long-term vision for the town centre and identify priority projects for future public and private sector investment.

The plan will focus on what is working well in the town, where improvements could be made and what matters most to the local community. The aim is to support a thriving, successful and welcoming town centre that meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

The first stage of the consultation, titled “Let’s Talk… Enhancing Caldicot”, will run from May to June 2026. During this phase, local people will be asked to share their views on how the town centre functions today and what priorities they would like to see reflected in future plans.

The feedback gathered will help shape the next stage of the project, when a draft vision and proposed projects will be presented for further public discussion during September and October 2026.

Residents can take part online through the Let’s Talk Monmouthshire platform from Tuesday, 2 June 2026. Face-to-face engagement sessions will also take place in Caldicot town centre, while printed copies of the survey will be available from Caldicot Community Hub and Library and Caldicot Town Council Offices.

People who would like to discuss the project directly with council officers can visit Caldicot town centre on Tuesday, 2 June, between 10am and 6pm.

Cllr Paul Griffiths, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development, said: “This is an important opportunity for local people to help shape the future of Caldicot town centre. We want to hear from residents, businesses and visitors about what is working well, what could be improved and what matters most to them.

“Your feedback will help us develop a placemaking plan that reflects local priorities and supports a vibrant, welcoming and successful town centre for the future.

Caldicot has been given this great opportunity to make improvements to our town.”

Mayor of Caldicot, Cllr Maxine Mitchell, said: “We need residents, visitors, community groups and businesses to have their say in shaping our future.

“Please take this opportunity to talk to us and take part in the community engagement consultation. We look forward to hearing your ideas.”

Monmouthshire County Council and Caldicot Town Council say community feedback will play a key role in shaping the final plan, helping to create a town centre that reflects local needs, supports future investment and builds on Caldicot’s existing strengths.
