RHS Flower Show Cardiff Awards revealed for 2018

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has revealed the award winners at its first outdoor event of the year at RHS Flower Show Cardiff 2018, supported by Brewin Dolphin.

First-time designer Millie Souter from Millie Souter Landscape Design was awarded Gold and the coveted title of Best Show and Regeneration Garden and Best Construction for her Urban Regeneration Garden.

London-based Millie Souter scooped the award with her garden in the all new category which champions the use of unexpected, low-cost materials. Having recently graduated from the Inchbald School of Design in London, Millie created a public garden with affordable and accessible materials at its heart.

James Alexander-Sinclair on the RHS judging panel said:

“It’s a well-balanced and very atmospheric design that demonstrates great ambition.”

In the Floral Marquee, second-time exhibitor Millwood Plants from Devon were awarded Best Exhibit, with Andy’s Air Plants, Ottershaw Cacti and Roualeyn Fuchsias among those awarded a Gold medal. Meanwhile, Cambridgeshire-based D’Arcy & Everest were presented with the New Design Award for their innovative and creative display of alpine succulents and small perennials in the Floral Marquee 2.

The Show welcomes thousands of people to enjoy the annual floral spectacular that returns to the grounds of Bute Park to celebrate spring colour and creativity. The weekend is expected to welcome families, keen gardeners and those looking for a fun day out to enjoy striking displays, delicious local produce and plenty of interactive activities to get involved in.
